Correlation Between Natural Branch Characteristics and Quality of White-flesh Loquat Fruits

  • Under natural conditions, correlation between the characteristics of fruiting branches and quality of Guifei loquat fruits were studied.The results indicated that the leaf number and branch length significantly affected the panicle weight.They might serve as a major index for spring shoots.For the summer shoots, it's the branch length affected markedly on the fruit quality, while the number of shoots significantly affected the fruit setting.Under the natural conditions, to produce high quality loquat, the followings were found to be desirable for the spring shoots: diameter > 0.9 cm, length > 20 cm, and 15-19 leaves per branch, while for the summer shoots: diameter > 0.7 cm, length > 30 cm, and more than 20 leaves on a branch.
