Abstract: Based on their growth characteristics, seedcanes of the target pathogen-free chewing sugarcane were compared with those of the conventional cane (CK). The results showed that, in addition to the seedling emergence rate and seedling rate,the seedcanes of the chewing cane were significantly higher on the monthly growth rate,plant height,internode length,cane yield,and contents of sugar, reducing sugars and Amino acids than CK. Especially, it was found that the yield was 21.75% and the sugar content of the chewing variety 1.10% higher than CK. The seedcanes of the chewing cane showed better productivity traits, and could be promoted for large production.
