Synthesis and Microencapsulation of Insect Sex Pheromones

  • Insect sex pheromone plays an important role in the integrated pest management.The available methods of synthesizing sex pheromones include the witting reaction, acetylene route, Grignard reagent coupling method, etc.An important means in controlling drug release, microencapsulation appeared to be potentially applicable in the case of insect sex pheromone as well.This paper reviews various methods of sex pheromone synthesis and microencapsulation.Their advantages, limitations and application prospect are summarized.
